Heavy gaiters are often worn when using crampons to protect the legs and ankles from the opposite foot spike. Guitars use hiking boots and branches around its feet to protect it from the thorns and to prevent it from entering the top of the boot with mud, snow, etc.
Low gaiters are primarily used to keep sticks and rocks out of your shoes when hiking or on trails, so you don’t have to take them out of your shoes. They usually cover your ankles and lower calves and cover the tops of your socks.
Gators are actually an essential part of the equipment, Matt. I regard them as necessary about the year around. … Snow is the main culprit here, so gators are often sold for that purpose. But during the dry months, gaiters can keep rubbish, dirt, weed burns and other materials out of your footwear.
The first and most important thing to do when setting up your getter before your first walk is to adjust them properly. It’s worth doing before hitting the trails so you don’t have to spend time enjoying your walks.
Open the garter fully by keeping your walking boot or shoe on, and make sure the strap strap is attached to either side of the bottom. Be sure to adjust your foot to the outside.
Lift your heel and place the strap strap on the bottom of your foot in front of the sole’s heel section. The metallic lace grip should be on the front of the boot, but do not fit it yet, or you will find that the zip may be too tight to attach together.
Tie the zip up to about 2-5 inches and start engaging the velcro (to prevent the zip from undoing), then extend as much as you can to hold the lace (some boots even have a loop to tie it on – if it reaches enough).
Continue to zip up the guitar and then engage in the remaining Velcro.
Adjust the strap strap (on the outside of the foot) so that it is as tight as possible and either secure extra or trim as needed.
Adjust the cord above so that the fit is close but not tight enough that it limits your circulation!
Repeat for the other leg!
