The announcement was made via the official Twitter accounts of the show, along with a teaser previewing Part 2. The teaser had a serious tone, a departure from the usually light-hearted mood of Part 1. Part 2 will feature the Doggy Crisis Arc which comes after the Stella Star Arc. The story is centred around a terrorist group from Berlint University that targets a minister to trigger a war between Westalis and Ostania. It, of course, also features the new addition to the Forger family—the pet dog that Anya wanted. The arc will also introduce a new character, Keith Kepler. The trailer shows the next mission is titled as “Stop the Terrorist Bombing Attack”.
Spy x Family Part 1 was 12 episodes in length and directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi. Kazuaki Shimada provided the character designs. It is the adaptation of the hit ongoing manga series by Tatsuya Endou. The manga has been publishing since March 25, 2019.
The manga is serialised in the Shonen Jump+ magazine, and the three most recent English chapters are available to read in India for free on Viz Media’s website. The physical volumes of the manga are also available to purchase via Viz.
Spy x Family is about Loid Forger or “Twilight”, a spy who has to live with a fake family for his mission. He finds Yor and Anya, and builds the family with them. While Loid is hiding his identity as a spy, Yor is actually an assassin and has fake married him for a mutual interest. Anya is an esper who can read people’s thoughts. The trio pretend to be normal while hiding these other sides of them from each other.
Spy x Family Part 1 is streamed on YouTube via Muse Communications and is also available on Netflix. Part 2 will likely be available on both platforms as well.
